In 1936 Gertrude Hawk began making hand-made chocolates in her kitchen in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Her eldest son, Elmer R. Hawk, joined the company after returning from World War II. Later his son, David Hawk, joined Gertrude Hawk Chocolates. Today he serves as Chairman of the Board.
